Brian,
You’re posting for the Kamado's nice web site. It just so happens I have a Japanese Kamado 70? Needs allot of work. One day I will get a couple photo’s up.

I saw a website that detailed all the expenses it took to put on a sanctioned comp and was floored! I think if cooks saw what it took to put it together they would be shocked too. I volunteered at the last KCBS cook in Lynnwood and got to help out.
What advice can you give Thom? I don't want to ruffle feathers but still glad we at least have the PNWBA.
Thom,
Good question. It’s kind of lonely at the top (of the states that is). Up here in the NW we don’t draw a large number of team at any given competition. The NW is lucky if we get 35 teams at a given event. That may have something to do with the fact that the NW is not involved with KCBS. But I am not the best person to answer that question. Hopefully some in the know will post. Like Brian says “I am glad” we have the PNWBA and that they all work very hard to see that professional competition barbecue stays alive and well in the NW.
I run IBCA contests when the Budget is small
But when I have the $$ I use KCBS or even Both
like Stagecoach where we will run 3 Championships
in one weekend
No there are a few comps up north and a lot of great members
So Cal happens to have more contests
When I joined there were 0 contests within 150 miles of me
Now there are 7 that I run
I am expanding North with one just out of Sacramento and on the Central Coast in 2009
