Speaking of suggestions, how about remembering our e-mail when we have to sign in?
  • David Kirkpatrick

Bob, I just uploaded some more photos of my smoker. One of the photos has a basket in the firebox. I fill that with pre started charcoal and put lump coal on top. Ever since I put in the wire basket in; it stays steady at 150d. Can you tell from the photos is the wire baske too high? How can I get my temp up to 220 - 205? Please advise.
  • David Kirkpatrick

Bob, I tried to invite a friend and am prompted to input email address and password. Can you add @comcast.net. This is not an option currently. Thanks in advance.
  • John Hunt

I've find been looking and I can't find "Remember Me"?
  • John Hunt

With an e-mail address like mine, it is obvious that I am a MAC user. (ha) I use Safari 3.2.1. I do have Firefox but I don't use it much.
  • Tom Rowe

I am really enjoying this website. Looking forward to cooking chili in March in Tacoma and Aloha. I believe Mark is going to add a peoples choice for the public. That will be great for his charity. I am just ready to cook up some greens.... Hope you are still considering Astoria on May 2.

Thanks Bob! hope all is well and hope to see you this season.
  • Steve

    Yes Sir, that was me.
  • Steve

I have not heard of that radio show but I will visit the website and give it a listen. I will also check out the FL BBQ website. Thanks for that info.

I get so busy with my kids playing softball that Saturday night is when I get to decompress and enjoy the grill or smoker, if time permits.

I appreciate this web site as well as I have made several favorites off of some of your links.

    Where is Riverside Park?
  • Steve

    Hey Bob,

It's another Saturday and I am out on the deck firing up my grill. Nice, 80 degree weather here in Gainesville today.

Again, I enjoy your site. Keep up the good work.

Ya missed my pun! How about telling folks that the "Chili Days" BBQ Contest is in Grants Pass, Oregon, seeing as we don't have many contests here.
  • JONATHAN

    When is chile days ??
  • John Hunt

Monihan will send you the information on the "Kuna", (Boise), Idaho contest being held on April 3-4, 2009. This is forming up to be a nice contest. It will be a "Qualifier" for the GAB, American Royal, and the Jack. There are not that many Idaho contests so this could be a sleeper for some team!

    Hello Bob,
Thanks for the reply and for setting up sucha great site ... having a place to share ideas and the passion for barbecue is always great.Firstly it would be great to have you come up and join us in Trail this year. Secondly I have a question for you would it be ok to put something on your site regarding my cookoff in Trail ? If so would you direct me as to where on the site you might want it. Thanks again for putting together such a well thought out and slick site.

    Best regards,
    Bryan

yes sir, very much looking forward to this summer.
The internet and free streaming websites such as
ustream.tv, are allowing our bbq friendships to become
a simple "video-web-cast away." Will stay in touch.
All night bbq cookin parties are just around the corner.

Couldn't figure out how to post this.
Albany has lost money the last two years. There just aren't enough teams participating there. This may be the last KCBS contest there if we don't get out and support the contest. I can remember several teams from Idaho and Utah? coming over for the contest. How about more cooks from Washington and Oregon coming back? We need you. The contest is July 31 - Aug 2, 2009. The registration and information is not posted yet, I will post it when all things are finalized. Here is their link: http://albanyvisitors.com/events/ and of course, right here on this great web site.
    Thanks for your support.

Thanks for the nice comment! We won't be making it to pike place though...Sad. Our first contest this year will be spring training. Looking over the contests were trying to make it looks like our paths may cross a couple times! I look forward to it!
  • John Hunt

Bob, is it possible to set something up as to be able to click on a contest and leave comments there? Like giving a progress report or something like that.
  • Jenny Springer

    Bob,

I got the idea from your site. I went to Home Depot and got some brackets and installed them as shown and problem solved. The only thing I have not done is add the four handles which will come in handy.

I'll get those photos, hopefully tomorrow and then see if I can't get one of my kids to help me get them to your site. I want to upgrade my page on your site and hopefully get a facebook thing going but, I mean, I am a child of the 70's and early 80's, so communication to me is using the one phone we had in the kitchen with about a six foot cord between the handset and the phone!

Thanks Bob. My wife and I have been gone since shortly after Pike Place and returned today. I enjoyed talking with you also and look forward to learning some of the finer points of the smoke cooking business from you.

    Thanks, Bob.

One of these days when both of my daughters are out of high school and finished playing softball I will need something to fill that void. Between their activities and my once a month reserve committment I am lucky to find time perfect my game.

I am interested in getting with the Florida BBQ association folks and taking their judges training just to start getting my feet wet on the whole competition thing.

Now that I know how to post to this and Facebook I will be adding photos regularly.

Bob: Hope you did well at the Chili compeition. I signed up for the Thriftway BBQ Event. Are you going? Great section of the Internet you have. I really like Ning.com. I found out about them when I joined FOHBOH.com. It is a food industry site.

    Take care.

    Hey Bob,

I just got home and got your message ( I couldn't use my phone in Canada) and everything went great. It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun and well worth the effort (as are most contests in my opinion!) Thanks for the call. Will I see you at Chehalis next weekend?
    Judge Jenny
  • Jenny Springer

I will be at Chehalis but Christene is the head judge and the one making the list. I would let her know you are available.

    Jenny
  • chris schnautz

Thanks for the welcome! I am taking the cooking class in Chehalis...really looking forward to it (anxious to learn all that I can). Thanks again.
  • Brian Moriarty

Thanks for the BBQ Central radio show updates Bob!

I've got to listen to most of the archived shows, but just a heads up for next weeks show 9/29 is local guy and inventor of the Rib-O-Lator, Bob Garnash. He'll talk about the product, initially for gas grills, but I'm testing a prototype for the 22.5" Weber kettle. I'll keep you posted!

    Brian
  • John Hunt

Bob, where did you get the info on Albany. If it didn't come from Jimmy, you might want to delete it for now. John
