Thanks, Bob! Glad to be part of your network. Not sure how active I'll be - already too addicted to the Facebook thing. I sure do appreciate the invite.
I'll do that Bob. I probably won't have it for another four weeks or so. When I do, I intend to do a rib cook of about ten racks trying dry rubs, web mops and other traditional styles and sharing with my neighbors who are happy to give me feedback on flavor etc.
If I remember correctly you use WSMs in your mobile competitio setup? Also, I'm told you operate a rib restaurant in Gold Bar? If so, whats the name and I'll be sure to visit next time through.
Mahalo for your note Bob. I am very happy with the WSM, so happy that I will be ordering its bigger brother. Yes I have checked out the Virtual Bullet site and I got some great ideas and info from it. I been cooking with live fire for over 50 years and enjoy it. Big stick burners don't bother me at all since I learned decades ago that it is the cook and not the equipment. Since there is no one piece of bbq equipment that can do every method of bbq, grilling or smoking, I own several types including a Gator stick burner.
I am looking forward to meeting you and other members of the bbq'ing community here in the Northwest. Clif and I are talking about Pikes Place in April. Both of us are from the island of Oahu but from towns about 12 miles apart.
Hi Bob,
Thanks for the welcome. It's nice to have a site to talk about PNW BBQ. I like the layout of your web-site...i'll be posting as often as I can. Yep...Duvall became an island again...LOL! This is the third time we've been flooded in since moving here. We were fine...high and dry! Talk to you soon...
Thanks Bob... Went to Pikes Place last year and got interested in competing and saw the WSM in action. Bought one on Craigslist a few months ago and I think it is great! Looking into buying a new bigger one... Don't know if I am ready to compete with the "big boys"...
We normally go south for a couple of months also but this year, of all years, we decided to stay home. We might have to take the RV and go somewhere just to get away from home for a while.
My team and I are seriously considering Pike Place. I should have my new WSM 22.5 in a couple of weeks and can work on a couple of dry runs for the neighborhood to test for me. I must admit I'm really looking forward to this new cooker.
Bob,
I belive my team and I were next to you at Alki last Sept. We were the new team called Smoke-n-spice gang from Fall City. We were cooking on a homemade axle mounted offset smoker and an old Brinkmann Cimarron with a bright red exhaust pipe. I have a new WSM 22.5 on order from Amazon and look forward to using it this year.
We called you "Gold Bar Bob".
